Show that the relation R in the set {1, 2, 3} given by R = {(1, 2), (2, 1)} is symmetric but neither reflexive nor transitive.
Class 12, NCERT Chapter 1, Exercise 1.1, Q6
Since (1,1)∉RIt is not Reflexive.Here (1,2) ∈ R and (2,1) ∈ R,Therefore R is symmetric.
In given R (1,2) ∈ R and (2,1) ∈ R, But (1,1)∉R .So R is not transitive.
R is symmetric but neither reflexive nor transitive.
